Mental model

Mental model is one's understanding of a system or a concept that integrates several parts. The one can be either an individual, a group of people, or, in a case of machine learning, a computer. Several theories of mental-model development suggest the ways how human beings develop their Models.


Definitions

According to Organizational Behavior by Robbins and Judge (17th edition),

Mental model. Team members' knowledge and beliefs about how the work gets done by the team.

According to the FAA AC 120-72,

Mental model. A depiction of a system in a person's mind, i.e. how a person thinks a system is put together and how it works.
