Software development and management practice (hereinafter, the Practice) is the practice to ensure that applications meet stakeholder needs in terms of functionality, reliability, maintainability, compliance, and auditability. This Practice relates to both software development and service management. The Practice is a part of the ITIL practices.

According to the ITIL Foundation 4e by Axelos,

Software development and management practice. The practice of ensuring that applications meet stakeholder needs in terms of functionality, reliability, maintainability, compliance, and auditability.
