Key factors for success (sometimes called critical success factors) are those resources, skills and attributes of the organizations in an industry that are essential to deliver success in the market place. Note that the emphasis is on all the companies in an industry. (Key factors for success are not about those factors that apply to an individual company.)

According to the Corporate Strategy by Lynch (4th edition),

Key factors for success (sometimes called critical success factors). Those resources, skills and attributes of the organizations in an industry that are essential to deliver success in the market place. Note that the emphasis is on all the companies in an industry. (Key factors for success are not about those factors that apply to an individual company.)
