A business need (hereinafter, the Need) is the state of an enterprise in which that enterprise has to have something that that enterprise does not have at the moment. The Need may also refer to a business requirement. The plural term, business needs, refer to a business requirements document (BRD), alternatively known as business needs specification.

Business need. A problem or opportunity of strategic or tactical importance to be addressed.
