Meeting transcript

Gary: Sonya, Sonya is recording too, right?
Kevin: Sonya, are you recording?
Sonya: Yeah!
Gary: Okay. That's good, that's good. That's fine. That' Awesome. What's up? Like I worked on the same staff. My week, my last week didn't have -- so I worked on the same thing, on the same kind of (inaudible) on the same, on the same staff.
Kevin: Okay.
Sonya: Mhm
Kevin: Alright, so since we have guests I'd like us to start with the introductions. Maybe Gary you can start.
Gary: Okay. Yeah, I'm Gary. I have a few other names. My American name is Gary. So recently I go with Gary and uh, I'm sponsoring this program. Uhm, I have a dream uh to kind of take people from scratch, train them and move to their work force. And, that is why I'm investing like, my money into it. It's kind of like a hobby. We can call it like a start up business but I have been doing this for a while so it's probably right now like more like a hobby.
Kevin: Yeah,
Gary: I don't expect, it may pay off, may not. I don't know at this time. I will do it anyway. So uhm, and this program like for the last two years, it was active in Ukraine and now we want to move it to English. And we definitely look at other markets uhm, especially Kenya. I have a good like, I have a good experience in Kenya and in Pakistan. But in Pakistan I don't have any partner at the moment and in Kenya, Kevin emerged and I decided oh, this is our chance. God sent, God sent right?
Kevin: Sure!
Gary: So, yeah. We talked to Kevin like last week. We had a good conversation uhm, and what he said like made sense to me. Uhm, we thought to develop like a new position called like Training Developer. Right now I think maybe we can take like Website Developer which we already have and modify it. You know kind of adjust to, to our needs. But basically, we need people right now. We are hiring people to develop this program. So the program doesn't exist yet. I mean in Englis. In Russian, we had pretty good kind of, good, good level, good level, at a good level. It was like three courses, uh, I would probably translate the first one from Russian to English.
Kevin: Yeah
Gary: Uhm and work on it. We need websites, we need courses, we need apps, we need requirements, we need many different things. And we have a budget. Which is a good thing.
Kevin: Yeah, that's right. So, I can go next.
Gary: Yeah.
Kevin: I can introduce myself. My name is Kevin, I'm from Kenya. Just recently rejoined this project that is being developed at the moment. We recently had some very interesting conversations with Gary, like he said. We are now developing a new position called a Training Developer Position who would be able to develop uh, the project that we need to develop in this process so that we may be able to present something to those who want to join this project. Yeah, that's all I can say.
Gary: Okay, cool.
Kevin: Sonya or any other person --
Gary: Kevin, who? Kevin whom do you want to go next?
Kevin: Anyone whose ready. Sonya or Onesmus.
Sonya: Okay, I can. Uhm, my name is Sonya. I'm from (inaudible). Sonya is my Ukrainian name. And I haven't had a different name yet. And so I work with Gary on this project about half a year. Uhm, I can say that I'm so good in it uhm, but I am that's right and it's interesting for me. So --
Onesmus: Alright. Okay, thank you Sonya. Hello Gary and Kevin. My name is Onesmus. I am new here. This is my first time to be in such a forum. Uhm, and I learning about CNM and everything about it. So, I hope I learn and get something and be part of the team and part of the process by the end of it all. So I am very much humbled to be here. Thank you Gary for such a program.
Gary: Welcome, welcome, we are happy to have you people.
Kevin: We also have Rita who's just joined. Can you hear us Rita? You are on mute. Kindly un-mute and speak up.
Rita: Okay. Good evening everyone.
Kevin: Good evening.
Rita: You can hear me?
Kevin: Yes, we would also like to see you. If that's possible.
Gary: By the way, it's not necessary. If you don't want to kind of to be seen is okay too. Like at least for me.
Kevin: Sure, sure.
Rita: Hi
Kevin: Hi
Gary: We need ladies. We have only Sonya and now it's like more balanced, right?
Kevin: Maybe introduce your self, say something about you Rita.
Rita: Okay. Thank you Kevin. Uhm, good evening everyone. Uhm, okay. It's 8 o'clock where I am right now. I am Rita Lustwata. I'm from Uganda.
Gary: Oh, okay. We had a good, good, good record with people from Uganda. Good record with people --
Rita: Oh, nice.
Gary: We had like a, I worked with a lady whose name was Victoria. She was from Uganda uh, also Kevin and me. We worked with Mariam who was a lady in Pakistan. But her grand mother, was from Uganda. Right Kevin?
Kevin: Yeah.
Rita: Wow, amaizing. I am happy to be here and nice to meet you all.
Gary: Do you speak Swahili as well in Uganda or you speak Lugandan?
Rita: We speak mostly Luganda but uh, the Swahili is now being introduced in schools.
Gary: Oh, okay. Asante, asante.
Rita: Karibu, karibu, karibu. For me I know Swahili because I spent some time in Kenya so I managed to meet up with Kevin.
Gary: Oh, okay. Cool, cool. So, what uhm, yeah that's good. It's wonderful.
Rita: Thank you.
Kevin: Yeah, so I believe we've already talked about what we've done last week. The bigger part of it, unless anyone else would like to add on it. What we, we did last week.
Gary: It was kind of some, kind of like discrepancy, I couldn't hear like all the words. What's the last, you said?
Kevin: Like uh, the next section of this meeting we are to talk about uh, our progress, what we've done last week and the next section is for next week.
Gary: Yeah. So I already told what I did. So, I'm working on this program. I develop, right now what uhm, how it will look like, how our recruitment will go, I didn't work on our, any requirements to create this like this new position, Training Developer. But I believe like that probably it will be very close like Website Developer. So, I will take kind of what I have already started, Website Developer and make it to like Training Developer. So, this is what I am doing. I can't do alot because I have like a strict time limitations. Uhm, but I'm working on this. I plan to finish this new position by May. So I kind of it's the time with, not by end, by end of the May, of May, sorry. Uh, so I, it is kind of my time estimate for now. Uh, but also I'm, I'm I can involve, like increase my involvement especially if it's new people are joining. Uhm, but again I don't want to be perceived as a manger. I'm mot a manager, I want to be a customer and Coordinator, volunteer coordinator. But not like a manger. If like Kevin you will suggest what is needed to be done with new people, how to accommodate them, how to plug them in I will work on your requirements.
Kevin: Yes, okay.
Gary: We, yeah, we have like right now we have like two general developments. One development is going with lets say what Sonya does, and what Natalia. Natalia and Sonya are doing. And I perceive they will work on the technology. I don't want, I don't know how far did they go. I wanted actually Sonya to talk about this more in better details but uh, what I'm, because like last week was not usual. Like yesterday was a holiday. March 8th, international women's day uh, I don't know whether you celebrate in Kenya. In America it's a little bit weird day because like many protests but, but some also like (inaudible) congratulations. Do you celebrate Women's day in Kenya, or no? Kevin,
Kevin: Yeah, we do
Gary: You do? oh
Kevin: We do.
Gary: Oh, congratulations to our ladies with the, with the International Women's Day. And uhm, so they worked on more -- and like we can do this recruitment part with Kevin and kind of new people, it will be awesome, just awesome.
Kevin: Sonya, anything you would like to add about how your week was.
Sonya: Uhm, no. (inaudible)
Kevin: Rita, did you raise your hand anywhere?
Rita: No, it wasn't me.
Onesmus: Yeah, I did, I did Kevin but I think Sonya can finish or I can just project my question?
Kevin: Okay, Sonya Please proceed.
Sonya: Okay, I have already said and I want to start a type of meeting. It will be called CNM Cyber Guided Tour. Uhm, I want to make a presentation about CNM as the main speaker (inaudible) -- about the CNM Word Press. And so we watch and I hope it will be better and more (inaudible). Yeah, this meeting I think --
Gary: It's March 15th.
Sonya: (Inaudible)
Gary: (Inaudible) with no mic. So, okay cool. Uh, how will you kind of -- you will post kind of link to our like meetup on chat or like how, how we can get it?
Sonya: Uh, I can (inaudible)
Kevin: Okay, Kevin is back.
Gary: What we talked about, like we discussed this uhm, like transition from, like from Sonya like to Kevin of This Week Events.
Kevin: Yeah
Gary: Oh, cool. Sonya just shared like the link on the chat. And uhm, so we want you from the next week, right Sonya. From the next week we want you to post like the Wiki page. Kind of to organize this kind of this conference. Record it and post recording on the YouTube, right?
Sonya: Mhm,
Gary: So kind of what -- everything what -- and post on the meetup too, right? Kevin, are you like are ou on the meetup?
Kevin: I am.
Gary: Yeah, you do. Because you registered. You RSVPed. I will make you event organizer as well right?
Kevin: On meetup?
Gary: Correct. So you can post there new announcements, right?
Kevin: Alright.
Gary: Does it make sense?
Kevin: It does.
Gary: Okay. You are a member right now. Say it agin?
Kevin: I believe Onesmus had a question.
Gary: Yeah, he said he will be talking after Sonya.
Kevin: Alright.
Gary: Kevin by the way, do you want to be sent a message?
Kevin: Sure, sure, yeah!
Gary: I promoted you to Event Organizer. Yeah, okay.
Kevin: Thank you.
Gary: No problem. Okay. I will also get back to what Sonya said. So. right now how I envision, that Sonya and Natalia will work on technology. They will develop our documentation, Wiki uhm, describe what we have and they call like Guided Tour or maybe we will call them -- like general name of the series will be Guided Tours uh, like CNM Cyber Guided Tour but particular events can be called lets say CNM Word press with Natalia. If Natalia wants to kind of put her name in the name. And every week she will present our technology, what we have, what our challenges are and we will do it like every week. Let's say every week one more app. Uh, we have right now about like twenty software packages. So like in twenty weeks we will do like, a half of a year we will do like some basic coverage and then we will build like further and then at least we will have like kind of something going on on the technology's side. It is kind of what what is Sonya working on. Sonya and Natalia. There are two of them.
Kevin: This includes the website? Yeah, does this include the website?
Gary: This will include the website but again they will be talking about technologies. They will not be talking about the content. Or uhm, I don't know like pictures, or images, or whatever. They work on technology only, right? It is kind of -- it is kind of my perception. So, whatever is needed like working on technology. I plan like our new uhm, training developers will do pictures, texts, administration, uhm yeah.
Kevin: Okay. Onesmus ou can speak up.
Onesmus: I think I've gotten some clear sense of what you guys do but I think Sonya has updated, has give really a very good update and Kevin so I'll be asking questions as we go on maybe just uhm, do we have maybe a communication channel? Or it's the -- is it mail, is it uhm, is there a group kind of so maybe Kevin you can elaborate on that.
Gary: Kevin doesn't know probably. Uhm, Kevin didn't ask this question. So I uhm, Kevin offered some commercial software. I am not sure that we are interested in. we have a few platforms. And I will probably, most likely target our home Hub. It's called like Social. Uh, we call it Social. And we started doing this in Russian with some success but basically Home Hub is very similar to Facebook. Like a private Facebook, I mean as a platform. We can do it there. At least I plan to do this there. To organize the group, but the question is excellent. This is the excellent question and Kevin mentioned it too. Uhm if, the idea is, if we need more channels move to a commercial software. If we plan to work, lets say, together on the technology, why would we kind of rent someone's technology? Why not to build this technology? Uhm, so this is kind of my perception. So, like Kevin are you familiar with our Home Hub or Social or --
Kevin: Yeah, I am
Gary: You are? Okay. So my goal was kind of to develop this -- I am trying right now to access, yeah! It is kind of working, I don't know how far it is. But this is the part that needs to be developed. We can install more, just let's say for projects it's kind of completely ARP platform. I am sharing right now in the chat. So we can go there, organize the group, right now I see like a name. It must be in English right?
Kevin: Yeah
Gary: So, the same way it needs to be better developed. And we will create there a group which is will be called like let's say like news. Our news about our meetings, events and updates. Exceent question. Anything else?
Onesmus: Yeah, thank you for the response, I think that is, I'm well guided.
Gary: Again, I want, I dream you will come and work on that and develop like our groups, like our places and if we don't like one tool we can switch to another tool and the third tool and the fourth tool until we will find what we will like. Kevin, how do you envision how the new pwople we will kind of join us? And then kind of I guess the internet in Kenya is not free right?
Kevin: No, it's not.
Gary: That is why they go like they take out like their pictures because kind of to make kind of less internet consuption righ? Your mic is off.
Kevin: Can we set up a meeting to discuss this further maybe tomorrow?
Gary: Yeah, yeah, of course. We can.
Kevin: Alright.
Gary: A special meeting with only like with the new recruits right? And we will discuss how to plug them in, right?
Kevin: That is if Onesmus and you are, you guys are interested in joining.
Gary: What time? The same time?
Kevin: Yeah
Onesmus: Same time, it will work for me well. Same time, yeah.
Gary: Okay, cool. Let's do it. Let's do it.
Kevin: Anything else? Gary maybe you have something you would like to share?
Gary: Nothing, I'm happy.
Kevin: Okay
Gary: I am really happy. I'm glad that Kevin got back.
Kevin: Okay
Gary: Does Sonya want to say anything, no?
Sonya: No
Gary: No? Okay. By the way, are we meeting with Natalia today or I didn't get it. Kind of are we meeting with you or with Natalia or not. Or it was only like one time meeting?
Sonya: Uhm, with Natalia we can meet on next week but we can just you and me today.
Gary: Oh, okay. Okay, let's do it. Anything else? More questions? So we are, again (inaudible) we will have tomrrow the same time as today uh, the same time, the same link or?
Kevin: I'll set up the meeting.
Gary: You will set up the meeting. Okay cool. Uhm, you'll organize. Cool that's good. And with Sonya we will be meeting in seventeen minutes right?
Sonya: Yeah.
Gary: Okay cool. Anything else? Okay, thanks so much. I am really happy (inaudible) okay. I am leaving the meeting.
Rita: Bye
Kevin: Nice time, bye bye
