Decomposition is a technique used for dividing and subdividing the project scope and project deliverables into smaller, more manageable parts.

Decomposition. A technique used for dividing and subdividing the project scope and project deliverables into smaller, more manageable parts.

According to the BABOK Guide (3rd edition),

Decomposition. A technique that subdivides a problem into its component parts in order to facilitate analysis and understanding of those components.
