Standing operating procedure (SOP) -- is a set of written instructions that describes the step-by-step process that must be taken to properly perform a routine activity. SOP is a description of what the contractor who maintains the product should do and what steps should be taken if the contractor does not.

Standing operating procedure should be written for each CNM Cloud Usable endeavor and each CNM COTS product.

What the SOP includes

For CNM COTS installations, the SOP should describe:
  • the product monitoring process;
  • backup and its frequency;
  • snapshot making and its frequency;
  • version upgrades and patch installation;
  • system recovery in case of failures;
  • periodic checks for survivability;
  • User Groups meetings and news updates;
  • installation instructions in case of a total failure.
