A virtual private server (also known by its acronym, VPS) is a virtual machine (VM) that is provisioned and configured as a computing server to be offered for rent on the market. Although virtual root server and virtual dedicated server (VDS) can be defined in the same way, owners or leasing authorities normally use these terms to position more expensive offerings on the market.
