Fishbone diagram

Fishbone diagram (hereinafter, the Diagram) is a quality-control tool that represents a diagram and is used in root-cause analysis to identify underlying causes of an observed problem, and the relationships that exist between those causes.

Definitions

According to the BABOK Guide (3rd edition),

Fishbone diagram. A diagramming technique used in root cause analysis to identify underlying causes of an observed problem, and the relationships that exist between those causes. Also known as an Ishikawa or cause-andeffect diagram.
