Residency training (in medical education, also known as postgraduate training or, simply, residency) is one's training in a broad set of skills and abilities related to a particular profession in real-world environments under the direct or indirect supervision of a more competent other. In many jurisdictions, successful completion of such training is a requirement to obtain an unrestricted license to practice the profession.
