Systematic study (hereinafter, the Study) is a detailed investigation and analysis of a subject or situation conducted consistently over some period of time.

According to Organizational Behavior by Robbins and Judge (17th edition),

Systematic study. Looking at relationships, attempting to attribute causes and effects, and drawing conclusions based on scientific evidence.
